General Information Treviso (tray-vee-zoe) is surronded by a wall built in 1509 with 3 main Venetian style entry ways. It is worth seeing "Piazza dei Signori" (1800s) which is downtown and where the famous "Palazzo dei Trecento" was built in the 1200s.
The main road from Piazza dei Signori to the cathedral built in the 1300s is Via Calmaggiore, a road sorrounded by archs where it is possible to admire the houses built in the shape of towers bulit after 1000 AD as feudal residencies. This road has along both sides elegant stores, cafes, libraries and well-known resturants.
While in Treviso, don't forget to taste the famous "radicchio" di Treviso which is the red chicory. Near Treviso you should visit Conegliano, Valdobbiadene, Vittorio Veneto, Asolo, and Strada Del Prosecco (the prosecco wine road). |
